Charles Browning, 2017, Peaceable Kingdom, oil on canvas

Working in oils and referencing art-historical styles, Charles Browning makes paintings that puncture the propaganda of American frontier mythology and comment on race, gender and power in American history. According to Charles, he lives in Bucks County just north of Philadelphia with "goats, chickens, two cats and one wife."
