UArts Alum Named an Independence Foundation Fellow

UArts Alum Ron Tarver MFA ’17 (Studio Art) was one of six local artists who were named 2019 Independence Foundation fellows. Tarver earned the award for his photography. His work mostly comprises haunting and restrained, sometimes altered, black-and-white images. A former Pew fellow, he has also won a Pulitzer Prize for photojournalism in 2012 and was nominated again in 2014. 

The Fellowships in the Arts were created 20 years ago to foster artists’ careers and development.
