Message to Students: Extension of Spring Break

March 11, 2020

Sent to students March 10, 2020; updated information sent March 11, 2020

Dear Students,

For the past several weeks, and especially during the past 48 hours, the University Crisis Management Team has focused on how best to protect the health and safety of the UArts community, given the expanding spread of COVID-19 and a confirmed case now in Philadelphia.

Though no one on our campus has been diagnosed with the virus, the University has a responsibility to take proactive measures in order to protect the health and well-being of every member of our community. Here are the interim measures being taken while we continue to monitor the impact and spread of COVID-19 in the Philadelphia community.

  1. Spring break will be extended by one week through Sunday, March 22.
  2. See updated building access information.
  3. Housing will be provided only to students who have no option but to remain on campus, including those from countries with travel restrictions, those whose legal residence is University of the Arts and those with other extenuating circumstances. Please fill out this form if this applies to you.

The University is committed to ensuring that you will all be able to finish your spring term courses and that all students will remain on track to graduation. The Provost’s Office, the Office of Technology and Infrastructure Resources, deans, program directors, and faculty are working to create a plan that will work for our campus. We will share information as it becomes available, so continue to monitor your UArts email during spring break.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reply to this message. We will continue to update the University COVID-19 webpage in the coming days and send email updates as new information becomes available.

Sincerely,

Sara Pyle
