Graphic Design Students Advance to Adobe Awards Semifinals

Work by seniors Matthew Roop, Sidney Boria and James Kwak up for 2016 Adobe Design Achievement Award
Graphic Design students Matthew Roop ’17, Sidney Boria ’17 and James Kwak ’17 have advanced to the semifinals of the 2016 Adobe Design Achievement Awards, a global digital media competition for student creators. This prestigious awards program is presented by software giant Adobe Systems, maker of Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, AfterEffects and many other creative applications.
The submitted project, titled “Process,” featured an array of materials the students created for the School of Design’s spring 2016 exhibition, including posters, a fold-out postcard, a catalog, a motion graphic video, title cards, signage and a responsive email blast. The end-of-the-year show included work from the Graphic Design; Industrial Design; Design, Art + Technology; Design for Social Impact; and Museum Exhibition Planning + Design programs.
This recognition comes as the UArts Graphic Design program celebrates its 50th anniversary with "GD50: We Are Here," a series of events commemorating this historic milestone being held on September 24, 2016.
Also contributing to "Process" were recent alumni and staff members Ben Brotman BFA ’13 (Graphic Design), the University’s in-house graphic designer who served as project manager, and Monica Morris BFA ’15 (Sculpture), the School of Design’s administrative assistant who coordinated the project.
The 2016 Adobe Design Achievement Awards will be announced in September. In addition to mentorship, detailed feedback, career bootcamps and internships, winners will receive travel, hotel accommodations and passes to Adobe MAX, the world’s premier creativity conference taking place in San Diego November 2-4.
