Music - Instrumental Performance (BM)

UArts’ forward-thinking mindset has pushed me to go beyond my comfort zone and find my own voice in music. I am constantly inspired by the creativity and incredible musicianship of my peers and teachers. I am fortunate to be a part of such a caring and open-minded community of people that celebrate each other for who they are.

Morgan is a vibraphonist in Transfusion Ensemble and Femme, an all-female instrumental jazz group founded at UArts in 2019. Over the years, she has participated in Brazilian Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Singers Ensemble, Latin Jazz Ensemble, Musical Theater Ensemble and New Orleans Ensemble. Her time at UArts has allowed her to explore ways to integrate these various styles into her own music while still receiving a strong foundation in jazz.

Growing up in Rochester, NY, Morgan began studying classical piano and percussion from an early age. Some of her influences include Keith Jarrett, Joni Mitchell, Wayne Shorter and Esperanza Spalding.

Following her passion for music, Morgan decided to pursue a degree at UArts as a drum set player, and developed a strong appreciation for bebop and traditional jazz. In her sophomore year, Morgan began studying with vibraphonist Tony Miceli. From there, she fell in love with the vibraphone and jazz harmony.

Morgan has since become an active vibraphonist in the community, performing and recording with local groups around Philadelphia in addition to writing and arranging her own compositions.
