Plan Your Visit
There is no substitute for experiencing our campus on the Avenue of the Arts in person.
Observe a class and see students in action. Stand on the stage where Katharine Hepburn performed. Experience the acoustics in the Caplan Center for the Performing Arts. View dynamic artwork at Gallery One, our student-run gallery. Whatever option you choose, we can’t wait to welcome you.
A variety of opportunities are available to experience life at UArts.
Taking a tour — which includes an info session — is the best way to experience UArts. These tours are designed for Undergraduate students. Graduate students, please join us at a Graduate Open House, or contact the appropriate program director to schedule a visit within your department of interest.
Open Houses are filled with programming to help you get better acquainted with UArts. Speak with faculty about our programs, hear from current students about their experiences, learn about the admissions process and financial aid, and explore our studios, residence halls, dining halls on our Center City Philadelphia campus.
Transfer students have questions, experiences and schedules that differ from first-time students coming from high school. Our evening information sessions and campus tours are specifically designed with the transfer student in mind.
Enhance Your Visit
To enhance your UArts visit and experience, we invite you to take advantage of one or more of the following:
Meet with a Counselor
Though every tour includes a Q&A session with Admissions, a one-on-one meeting with an Admissions Counselor can be helpful if you have specific or more personal questions or concerns about the admissions process and whether or not UArts offers the right fit for your creative and educational goals. Though not required, an informal interview can provide insights that can help inform our admissions and scholarship review process. Please call 800-616-2787 ext. 6049 or 215-717-6049 if you would like to meet with a counselor.
Interested in one of our programs in Art, Design or Film? Meet informally with an admissions counselor to get feedback on building your portfolio. A counselor can give you advice on the best ways to present and discuss your work, suggest ideas for additional pieces, and point out ways for you to enhance your scholarship potential. Please call 800-616-2787 ext. 6049 or 215-717-6049 to schedule a meeting time for portfolio feedback.
Observe a Class
Imagine yourself at UArts by sitting in on a class and seeing UArts students and faculty in action in the studio or rehearsal hall. Observing a class is generally available year-round but is done on a case-by-case basis and needs to be planned in advance. Please contact us at 800-616-2787 x6049 or 215-717-6049 to begin this process.
Please note: Observing a class in the School of Theater is only available to prospective students who have been offered admission to that School.
See a show or exhibition
When scheduling your visit, be sure to check the University’s Events Calendar for the full list of gallery exhibitions, performances, lectures and other events happening on campus. For most ticketed performances, two complimentary tickets are available per prospective student.
Theater Performances: Using the promo code UASTUDENT, prospective students can reserve two complimentary tickets to a performance at tickets.uarts.edu.
Music and Dance Performances: Simply tell us you're a prospective student when you arrive at the performance, and you'll be seated for free.
Explore the Neighborhood
The city of Philadelphia is a key component of what makes UArts unique. Make time to see what surrounding neighborhoods like Midtown Village, Rittenhouse Square and South Street have to offer before or after your campus tour. Check out Visit Philly for more information about dining, shopping and attractions.
