JOB TITLE: Housing Coordinator
DEPARTMENT:  Campus Life
REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Student Engagement

Summary: The Housing Coordinator manages all areas of functioning and operations for the residential facilities. This is a live-in, 12 month position and serves as a member of the On- Duty crisis response team and participates in a weekly on-call crisis response rotation and handles crises as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Manages a residential community of 600+ students.

  • Facilitates housing and meal plan assignment processes, including incoming student placement, housing selection, and room change processes.

  • Coordinates day-to-day management of the housing database system.

  • Maintains accurate housing and meal plan records including billing in housing software, Colleague, and Blackboard.

  • Coordinates facility management, including weekly building walkthroughs, room inventories, Health & Safety room inspections, work orders, damage billing, and the opening and closing of the residential facilities.

  • Maintains an accurate inventory of room and mailbox keys, room/building furniture, micro- fridges, and laundry equipment in residential facilities and manages replacement orders.

  • Collaborates with the Office of Educational Accessibility to account for housing accommodations.

  • Partners with outside vendors including but not limited to: Micro-fridge, Our Campus Marketing, Calico, and Xfinity cable service.

  • Communicates with Facilities department to manage work orders, damages, and building upgrades in the residential facilities.

  • Coordinates off-campus housing information and data collection.

  • Conducts training sessions and in-services for Resident Assistants/Community Advisors on essential housing operations.

  • Responds to critical issues in the residence halls including facility emergencies and student concerns.

  • Collaborates with Pre-College during the summer to manage the Pre-College Summer Institute housing population.

  • Aids in the maintenance of departmental portal and webpages.

  • Serve in the 12 month On-Duty rotation at a Professional on Duty level for crisis response to support students in critical situations and be a resource to student staff

  • Assist during large scale events hosted by Campus Life; including but not limited to: Orientation, Resident Assistant/Community Advisor Trainings, RA banquet, Student Leadership Awards celebration, UArts Day, and UArts Weekend

  • Assists in day-to-day activities as needed in the Office of Campus Life

  • A minimum of an earned Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Education, Student Affairs, or similar area.


  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in residence life, housing or related field.

  • 1-2 years on call crisis response experience preferred.

  • Ability to devise and host training sessions for students.

  • Ability to demonstrate concern for satisfying one’s external and/or internal customers.

  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends throughout the year.

  • Ability to work in an on-call crisis response duty rotation being on-call 24/7 for one week at a time approximately 8 weeks a year.
