Enterprise Windows Systems Administrator

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director, Systems Administration
DEPARTMENT: OTIS
Summary:
The Enterprise Windows Systems Administrator oversees the management of all Windows desktop and laptops across the University, including inventory, patching, and imaging.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The Enterprise Windows Systems Administrator will be responsible for Windows desktop management and optimization engineering with in-depth experience in designing, building, deploying and supporting best-in-class enterprise-level Microsoft desktop solutions.
  • Ensure that the enterprise desktop computing environment is up-to-date to offer the highest security, reliability and performance possible
  • Craft and implement formal BYOD practices to support non-UArts owned devices
  • Work with Assistant Director, Systems Administration to design procedures, documentation, and training for helpdesk staff for level 1 desktop support
  • Manage Windows system inventory
  • Build and deploy enterprise-wide desktop and assist with server configurations, patches and upgrades to keep systems up to date
  • Address Level 2 Windows support issues

Experience:

  • 2+ years desktop management experience
  • Experience working with inventory, imaging, and patch management systems such as Microsoft SCCM, Azure, KACE 1000.
  • Excellent written communications skills, including the ability to restructure documents as needed to enhance understanding and flow, and strong analytical skills
  • Experience working with Microsoft AD and group policies
  • Experience with software/hardware/mobile device upgrade projects.
  • ITIL Foundation experience preferred

Education:

  • Associate’s degree

The majority of the duties of this job are performed sitting. The employee will also spend a fair amount of time walking to where computers are, moving computers from one location to another, and crawling under desks to access ports.

Work will be performed in a lively academic atmosphere. While work will primarily be performed indoors our campus is spread over several blocks.
