Dilmar M. Gamero S. is an adjunct professor of photography at UArts.
Biography
Dilmar M. Gamero S. is a Peruvian-born, Philadelphia-based visual artist, educator, and researcher who studies in audiovisual communication, philosophy, theology, and art education. He specializes in documentary production, fine art photography, and alternative and experimental image-making processes. Gamero has been focused on the cultural and religious identity of Peruvian rituals; lecturing; producing a book; and exhibiting in Peru, Latin America, and the U.S. His latest research uses experimental photography and new media on Elfreth’s Alley historical archives and data production to recover alternative stories.
Gamero earned a PhD in Documentary Arts and Visual Research from the School of Film and Media Arts at Temple University, Philadelphia; an MFA in Photography from Tyler School of Art, Temple University' and a BA in Audiovisual Communication from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, Lima.

Gamero has worked with many institutions related to La Salle Christian Brothers, the Jesuits, Temple University, and audiovisual and tourism companies that work with many South and North American countries.

Gamero’s photography and films have been produced and displayed in Peru and Latin and North America, and he produced a photobook in five volumes: Mamacha Carmen (2019).

His artist talks and research have been presented at Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Philadelphia; Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York; Sotheby’s Institute of Art, New York, New York; SECAC Conference in Birmingham, Alabama (2018) and Chattanooga, Tennessee (2019); SPE (Society for Photographic Education) in 2021 and Denver, Colorado (2023); Visible Evidence at Gdansk, Poland (2022); and several academic institutions in Peru.
