Student COVID-19 Information and Resources

COVID-19 is a disease caused by a virus named SARS-CoV-2. May 11th, 2023 marked the end of the federal COVID-19 public health crisis declaration.

Student Health Services will no longer provide routine COVID-19 testing. Masking is optional unless directed otherwise.

Isolation Guidelines

In adherence to CDC guidelines, isolation for COVID-19, influenza (flu), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), or any other respiratory infection is no longer required. If you are symptomatic, we encourage wearing well-fitting masks indoors.

If you have any questions, email healthservices@uarts.edu.

Treatment and Advice
For most students, a COVID-19 infection will present with mild to moderate cold and flu-like symptoms; many have also equated early symptoms to a bad allergy attack. These symptoms should be managed with routine over-the-counter (OTC) medication, increasing hydration, and rest. If you have any questions about which OTC medications would be best for you, contact Health Services for assistance.

Students are encouraged to seek emergency medical attention if symptoms become severe.
Severe symptoms would be categorized as:

  • A fever higher than 102
  • Shortness of breath
  • Lightheadedness
  • Chest Pain
  • Excessive vomiting or diarrhea

If severe symptoms arise, students are encouraged to call Public Safety, at (215) 717-6666, or 9-1-1.

Self-administered rapid tests are widely available at an affordable price.

Health Services are not distributing self-test kits at this time. Health Services will no longer provide routine COVID testing.

Testing Positive

Here is what you should do when you test positive.

If you test positive for COVID-19, stay home and isolate until you are fever-free for over 24 hours.

  • Wear a high-quality mask if you must be around others at home and in public.
  • Stay home and separate from others as much as possible.
  • Don’t share personal household items, like cups, towels, and utensils.
  • Monitor your symptoms. If you have an emergency warning sign (like trouble breathing), seek emergency medical care immediately.

Student Guidelines
Notify your faculty of your illness via email and CC Health Services on those communications. Let them know how long you will be out of class and make a plan with your professor on how to keep up with coursework.

If you need an emergency response, contact Public Safety at (215) 717-6666 or call 9-1-1.
