Audio Support Specialist

REPORTS TO:  Director of Music Technology


Under the supervision of the Director of Music Technology, this position is responsible for supporting the School of Music in the management of performance spaces, recording studios, and production suites, cataloging the inventory and equipment checkout, archival management, creating daily room schedules, supervising classroom implementation, and work-study supervision.  The Audio Support Specialist works with some administrative and academic offices across campus, including the OTIS, the Schools of Music and Dance, and Facilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supports recording studios for students and faculty
  • Manages equipment checkout
  • Supervises the implementation of SoM technology
  • Sets up, and manages master classes and other SoM events
  • Archival management
  • Manages work-study students
  • Works with SoM Faculty to assist with music technology in the classroom
  • Works with the Office of Technology, and Information Services to implement, and deploy music software in the computer labs and classrooms
  • Creates daily calendars for Production Suites
  • Manages room schedule assignments 
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Music Production, or related field preferred


  • 2-4 years of music production experience
  • Experience as Front of House for live performance
  • Familiarity with musical equipment repair and maintenance.

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Familiarity of Mac OS and, music software, specifically Ableton, Pro Tools, Logic
  • Strong familiarity with digital, and analog hardware
  • Strong familiarity with music trends in music technology
  • Advanced soldering, and audio electronics skills
  • Music background
  • Prior experience in higher ed preferred 
  • Experience with large format studio hardware and interconnectivity (experience with API and Antelope hardware is a plus)
  • Experience mixing for live events
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Supervises work-study students
