Our nearly 1,900 students are enrolled in 26 undergraduate and 23 graduate programs on our campus in the heart of Philadelphia’s Avenue of the Arts.

The Professional Institute for Educators (PIE) is currently seeking a part-time instructor to teach a course within its Masters of Education program in Literacy, beginning in Fall 2016.  Course listings include:

  • Foundations of Literacy (Master’s- and Certificate-level core)
  • Foundations of Phonics and Vocabulary
  • Reading Strategies: Storytelling
  • Enriching the P-4 Language Arts Curriculum
  • Enriching the 5-8 Language Arts Curriculum
  • Literacy in Early Childhood
  • Exploration of Literacy through the Performing Arts
  • Exploring Literacy through the Visual Arts
  • Exploring Literacy through the Media Arts


  • Master’s degree in Reading Education, Early Childhood Education, English Education, Language Arts, Children’s Literature, Art Education, Curriculum and Instruction or similar field (EdD/PhD preferred), dependent on course(s) taught
  • 5+ years professional level and/or teaching experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Interest and experience in working with adult learners

Part-time instructors in the Division of Continuing Studies are non-ranked and do not have faculty status.
