As part of our ongoing commitment to the health and safety of our campus community, University of the Arts collects and shares aggregated data pertaining to COVID-19 among our students, faculty and staff. The information below represents fall 2021 data starting Aug. 16, 2021.
As a community of faculty, staff and students, we are now more than 90% vaccinated. Fewer than 60 individuals have vaccine exemptions out of a community of more than 2,000. An additional small percentage are partially vaccinated and will be fully vaccinated in coming weeks. All students, faculty and staff are required to be fully vaccinated in order to return to campus, with exemptions granted only for medical or religious reasons.
Unvaccinated students on campus are tested twice weekly by UArts Health Services. Any student, regardless of vaccination status, can receive a test on campus via Health Services. However, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health recommends only those individuals who have symptoms and/or have been officially notified by a contact tracer that they were reported as a close contact be tested.
The results of COVID-19 testing below represent all testing performed via UArts Health Services.
All students, faculty and staff are required to report if they test positive for COVID-19 at an offsite testing facility. The number of estimated current active cases represent both symptomatic and asymptomatic cases detected by UArts-managed testing, as well as any self-reported cases of students, faculty or staff.
Results for the previous week are published by noon on Monday morning.
Definitions of Data
Weekly Test Results: This data represents the results of all COVID-19 testing conducted by UArts Health Services, aggregated on a weekly basis. Unvaccinated students are tested twice weekly. Figures may also include any faculty, staff or students who request testing, regardless of vaccination status.
% Positive: This percentage is the number of people who tested positive, divided by the total number of people tested during the week indicated.
Current Active Cases (estimated): This reflects the number of people in the on-campus UArts community who have been identified as having active COVID-19 infections as of the most recent date indicated. This includes cases detected through positive tests results by UArt Health Services and those who were tested elsewhere and self-reported their results to the university. A case is considered active for the period of isolation (10 days following a positive test result, per CDC guidelines) and until symptoms improve (if symptomatic) and a negative test result is obtained.
