JOB TITLE: Part-Time Psychology Instructors

DEPARTMENT:  Critical Studies Program

Summary:

The Critical Studies Program is seeking part-time instructors to teach a range of psychology (PSYC) course offerings for undergraduate students, including fully online classes using remote learning methods.

For the Fall 2021 semester, we have a particular need for instructors who are able to teach introductory and intermediate psychology classes. A comprehensive list of PSYC classes and course descriptions can be found here. Learn more about the Critical Studies Program here.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develops course syllabus appropriate to face-to-face and/or remote learning context
  • Completes and submits all required materials, including syllabus and student grades
  • Ensures quality of student work is strong, appropriate, and meets the expectations set forth in the program
  • Sets tone for the class, establishes guidelines and protocols for behavior and classroom activity, and provides instruction that meets the needs of all learners for face-to-face and/or remote learning context
  • Contributes ideas for improving current class or creating new initiatives and effectively resolves challenges that arise in their classroom
  • Establishes an inclusive environment in the classroom and demonstrates an understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of the University’s faculty, staff, and students
  • Demonstrates a sense of connection and responsibility for helping UArts achieve success through a commitment to its mission, vision, and values
  • Returns telephone calls and email messages from program administration in timely manner
  • Attends new faculty orientation

Education: Master’s degree or higher in relevant field

Experience: Previous teaching experience and/or genuine interest in working with students and helping them develop knowledge/skills

 

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Master’s degree or higher in relevant field
  • Previous teaching experience and/or genuine interest in working with students and helping them develop knowledge/skills
  • Ability to utilize diverse instructional methods and adapt curriculum to student needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
