<< Back to Center for Teaching & Learning

An informal opportunity for faculty to learn about and discuss technologies and digital resources for teaching and learning. Enjoy with your colleagues, a light lunch or wine and cheese while learning something new or sharing your expertise.

For the past four years, the Center for Teaching and Learning has hosted New Faculty Orientations in the fall and spring semesters. This event provides new faculty with a more extensive introduction to the workings of the University, including but not limited to:

  • Introduction to administrative offices and services
  • Introduction to faculty and student services
  • Introduction to UArts tech: UArts Portal, email and support

Provides an opportunity for dialogue among the faculty about how our students learn, and how we teach them. The Center invites faculty to submit proposals. Each selected Presenter tells his or her own story about a particular course. Presenters receive an honorarium.

An opportunity for informal conversation about current topics of interest to faculty. A faculty member interested and/or expert in the topic will facilitate the discussion.
RSVP to an upcoming conversation or suggest a topic.

Held annually on the Monday between submitting grades and marching in Graduation, the May Event is an ideal time to gather and discuss teaching and learning. In May 2008 this day-long symposium addressed "The Privilege of Teaching". The Center for Teaching and Learning was proud to welcome six of its beloved artist/teachers, past and present, to share their experiences, insights, reflections and hopes about the privilege of teaching in their lives, and how they feel about the gift of passing that privilege on to others.
