As an extension of our core values of community collaboration and engagement, UArts has partnered with Broad Street Ministry (BSM) to allow the UArts community to further engage with our neighbors and the Philadelphia community through ongoing group volunteering, community building, support of the Ministry’s mission of “radical hospitality and works for a more just world through civic engagement,” and other areas.

Upcoming UArts + BSM Partnership Opportunities

UArts organizes regular volunteering opportunities. Sign up to join us!

“Breaking Bread,” a community meal dinner
Help serve a delicious and nutritious meal to the guests of Broad Street Ministry in the way one would be served at a restaurant, as opposed to a standard soup kitchen. Sign up and be part of an engaging and dignified meal service.

Register for the next dinner service opportunity – Tuesday, November 21, 3–6pm

Volunteer On Your Own

If you’d like to volunteer outside of the opportunities organized by UArts, please feel free to register for any activity listed on the BSM Volunteer Hub. One opportunity the UArts community may be interested in is the Art Table:

“The Art Table,” a therapeutic art program
At The Art Table, volunteers join guests and staff in collaborative art projects. This role includes helping with setup and breakdown of art supplies, getting to know guests one-on-one, and assisting our Therapeutic Arts Coordinator. The Art Table takes place twice weekly currently. On the BSM event calendar, you’ll find the Thursday Art Table under "Afternoon Hospitality Collaborative," and on Tuesdays the event is called "Art Table."
