Sent to all students April 27, 2020

Good afternoon,

We hope you all are doing well and staying safe.

As you may know, the University remains closed by an order from Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf that listed all state colleges and universities as nonessential businesses. As such, we are not able to host students on campus and move-outs are not permitted at this time.

The stay-at-home order for Pennsylvania is scheduled to be lifted May 8 in certain counties, however, it does not sound like Philadelphia County will be part of that list. The governor has shared that in the coming weeks, an update will be communicated from his office that outlines the state’s reopening plan for businesses. We do not yet know what this will entail, but we are hopeful we may be permitted to host small groups on campus in the month of June. That decision will really come down to whether or not the spread of COVID-19 is decreasing in the Philadelphia area.

Our plan for hosting student move-outs from academic and/or residential spaces will be communicated via email as soon as the governor shares his reopening plan with details for the Philadelphia area.

We know this is inconvenient, and it is certainly not the way any of us anticipated ending the spring semester. Please be sure to continue to check your UArts email regularly as well as bookmark the webpage, uarts.edu/covid19 where we will post updated messages concerning move-outs.

Please stay healthy and stay safe,

Sara Pyle
Assistant Vice President for Student Services
