Scott Jovovich
Mr. Jovovich was a Principal dancer with such companies as The Joffrey Ballet, The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, The Northern Ballet Theatre (England) with Rudolph Nureyev, The Universal Ballet (Korea), Ballet Arizona, and the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company. His repertoire includes leading roles in ballets by some of the world’s foremost choreographers including: Balanchine, Tudor, DeMille, Ashton, Cranko, Massine, MacMillan, Robbins, Arpino, Joffrey, Lander, Lubovitch, Naharin and Ailey, as well as many of the great 19th Century Classics. Mr. Jovovich was featured in the Broadway Musicals, “JEROME ROBBINS BROADWAY” and “FOSSE”, “CAROUSEL” at Lincoln Center, and “ONCE UPON A MATTRESS” with Sarah Jessica Parker. He has appeared in numerous TV commercials and soaps, performed on the 1989, 1997, and 1999 TONY AWARDS Broadcasts, THE ROSIE O’DONNELL SHOW, and was a guest on “MONDAY NIGHT SPORTS”.
Jovovich has directed and choreographed for nightclub, musical theater, concert dance, commercials, and industrials. In 1987, his “VARIATIONS ON I GOT RYTHMN” was created for the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. He directed and choreographed a TV Commercial, also for Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. He’s choreographed several musicals including: “THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS”, “SLAUGHTER OF THE INNOCENTS”, “ANYTHING GOES”, "ON YOUR TOES" and "CHICAGO". Jovovich has created a number of ballets for various companies, among them a full length “NUTCRACKER”, “SEND IN THE CLOWNS”, “GEORGIE’S BLUES”, “CARMINA BURANA”, “BLUE METALLICA”, "FRANK’S PLACE”, “GLAZUNOV FANTASY”, “TANGO TALK”, “SUMMER’S CALL”, “O MAGNUM MYSTERIUM”, a concert version of “PORGY AND BESS”, "LA MOME PIAF", and "Slaughter On Tenth Avenue".
He is the owner and Director of JovoDance Productions, an umbrella organization which includes JovoDance - a performing arts school in Bucks County, JovoDesigns – a costume company, and JovoSport – a dance and sportswear company. As a teacher, Mr. Jovovich has been on the faculty of The Joffrey Ballet School, The Shirley Rock School, The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School, The Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts, The Brandywine Ballet Theatre School, The New York City Dance Alliance, and The University of the Arts in Phila.
