A University of the Arts alum, Phil Schulman '59 (Advertising Design) has been teaching Electronic Media to College of Art and Design graduate students since 2000. He has also taught Film & Television Production and Presentation Skills in the Continuing Education division.

He came to the University of the Arts following an award-winning career in the communications industry where he was an art director, copywriter, radio and TV commercial producer, and senior creative director for Ayer, New York, one of the world's foremost advertising agencies.

Phil returned to Philadelphia and with Jeff Berry, co-founded SBK pictures, the region’s premier film production company. SBK helped to establish the city and its talent pool as major players in the East Coast film production industry.

He has received AIGA, Clio, the New York Art Director’s Club, the Philadelphia Art Director’s Club, Silver Key and Telly awards.

As a senior Artist's Initiative board member, Phil serves as advisor for the pre-production and shooting of senior artist video biographies. He continues to work as an independent creative consultant.
