Recipient of a Kervorkian Fellowship for travel to and from Iraq, excavation at Tell al-Rimah near Mosul, and study of relevant archaeological collections in Italy, Greece and the Middle East. Active memberships, including the American Anthropological Association, the Society for American Archaeology, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Leakey Foundation, the Institute of Human Origins, the National Geographic Society, the Academy of Natural Sciences, the Jane Goodall Institute, the Wildlife Conservation Society, Primarily Primates, the International Primate Protection League, the Nature Conservatory and the Sierra Club.
