Magdalena "Maggie" Baker is the Assistant Professor of Costume Design for the Ira Brind School. A California native, she brings a wealth of experience to the Theatre Design program having had experience designing and working for Film, Television, Opera, Ballet, Theatre and the fashion industry. An educator for over a decade, Baker has been a guest-artist, lecturer, resident artist or designer for various colleges and universities including Saint Mary's College of California, Cornell College, The Art Institute of Philadelphia, Carnegie Mellon University, Saint Mary's College - Notre Dame, Point Park College, Delaware Community College, Rutgers Camden, and Alvernia University. As a member of the Ira Brind School Faculty, Maggie teaches all classes related to costume design, crafts, makeup design and history, in addition to working side-by-side with her students as the costume shop manager for the program.
Credits include design, costume, and wig/makeup work for companies including: A Noise Within, Warner Brother Family Entertainment, USC Films, Sacramento Music Circus, Oakland Ballet, Notre Dame Shakespeare, Festival 56, The Wilma Theatre, The Arden Theatre, 12 Miles West, Montgomery Theatre, Media Theatre, Inis Nua, and The Lantern Theatre Company. Most recent award nomination was for Best Design for the American premiere of Dublin By Lamplight with Inis Nua at the 1st National Irish Theatre Festival in NYC.
Maggie has an MFA in Costume Design from Carnegie Mellon University.
