Lori Lahnemann began her training in classical ballet at age 9. She began her teaching career under her mentor Nina Fedorova, principal with New York City Ballet, in 1999. She opened the Philadelphia Dance Academy in 2005 with the mission of creating a structured, disciplined, pre-professional ballet program in a positive, healthy environment.

In 2011, she founded the Philadelphia Youth Ballet (PYB). PYB was created to inspire dedicated young dancers by providing them with a professional training environment and performance opportunities. Lori is an American Ballet Theatre® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 7 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. She holds a master’s degree in Elementary Education and has taught in the Philadelphia public school system.

In 2009, she completed a two-year intensive Pilates certification program under the direction of master teacher, Karen H. Carlson. This program, based in functional anatomy, afforded new perspectives on the biomechanics of ballet and allowed her to teach balance, refinement and sustainability to dancers through Pilates training. She is also certified by the Pilates Method Alliance.
