Kristie Williams has more than 20 years of professional experience as a practicing designer, primarily in the fields of corporate identity and information design. As a Vice President and Design Director at the New York firm Siegel & Gale, her clients included AT&T, American Century, American Express, Ameritrade, BankOne, Bessemer Trust, B.T. Alex.Brown, Corning Life Sciences, Dell Computers, Dow Chemical Company, Duke Energy, DuPont, Fannie Mae, Mellon Private Asset Management, Merrill Lynch, Metropolitan Transportation Authority of New York, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, NationsBank, NYNEX, Progressive Insurance, Prudential, Roper Starch Worldwide, Sappi Warren Papers, T. Rowe Price, United Dominion, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, and Caja España in Spain. She established her own design practice in 2000.
Her work is included in permanent museum collections and has been exhibited internationally at, among others, The Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, The Walker Art Center, The Design Museum of Basel Switzerland, The Cincinnati Art Museum, and The Lubalin Center of The Cooper Union. It has appeared in publications including Artforum, Print, International Design, Step by Step Graphics, The Wall Street Journal, Typografische Monatsblätter, and numerous books and catalogs on typography and design.
Since joining the faculty of the Graphic Design department in 2000, Kristie Williams has taught senior Problem Solving; junior Typography Systems; sophomore Design Systems, Typography Fundamentals, Descriptive Drawing; and the elective she developed and introduced to the curriculum, Visualizing Information.
Prior to her association with the University of the Arts, she served as a visiting critic at Yale University, California College of Arts and Crafts, and The State University of New York at Purchase.
