Diane Hricko
Adjunct Assistant
BS, State University of New York

Dianne Hricko received her BS in Art Education from the State University of New York College of Buffalo in 1969. She spent 35 years teaching art in the public school systems. Throughout those years, she continued to focus on her own work, most recently returning to an earlier passion for textiles. She is active in her studio and delighted to be able to continue to teach both studio practices and now how to be an art teacher. She continues to explore her world as an artist and a teacher.

Artist Statement
Love of color, the sense of translucent depth and the surprise of the unexpected have fueled my re-entry to dyeing silk. I have spent the last few years working with a variety of printmaking techniques prior to succumbing to the urge to once again make textiles. The images are produced through a variety of resist printmaking and direct painting techniques using dyes and discharges. The richness and variety of silk surfaces, sometimes combined with stitching and fusing, is endlessly fascinating to me.
