Profile
Connie Michael is an Assistant Professor at the University of the Arts. She
holds a BS from Northern Illinois University, MA from Johns Moore University
in Liverpool England in dance theater performance, and ABD EdD at Temple
University. She has recently returned from sabbatical traveling to cities in
India, Malta, and England. Her research and performance in Improvisational
Tribal Belly Dance takes her to different parts of the United States and
abroad dancing in communities of middle age women sharing the joy of
movement. Connie has taught full time at University of the Arts for over 20
years and has taught in the areas of somatic awareness, health and fitness
for dancers, composition, pedagogy, dance education, and has served as
rehearsal assistant with Isaborah Hanayagi in several works he has set on
the UArts dance students. She serves as faculty council chair for the
University and has also chaired the University Committee on Academic Policy.
Her favorite place to dance is in her living room with her two daughters
Maggie and Mali.
