MFA, CranBrook Academy of Art
BFA, The Cleveland Institute of Art

Andrea Gaydos Landau's broader studio practice tackles the notion of structure, both architectonic and organic, decorative and chaotic. Her works range in media and scale in an effort to ensnare mythological and natural imagery that draw upon our primordial connections to natural phenomena.

Andrea has shown nationally and internationally. She has work in the Daimler Chrysler Services permanent collection and participated in the first exhibition at the Museum of New Art in Pontiac, Mich. Her work appeared in "First Look" at the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art in Peekskill, N.Y., which featured emerging artists from across the country. She has been invited to show in several notable alumni exhibits, "Hothouse," exploring the field of Fiber from the past 37 years at the Cranbrook Academy of Art. More recently her work was in "Twelve by Twelve" in Seoul, Korea, as well as "From Here To Infinity And The Big Bang" at Spaces Gallery in Cleveland, Ohio.

Locally, Andrea has shown at the Philadelphia Art Alliance, Center for Emerging Visual Artists in Philadelphia, and was selected for Philagrafika's Invitational Print Portfolio. Andrea currently lives in Philadelphia and works at the Fabric Workshop and Museum as project manager and construction technician. Artist Statement
I am interested in presenting work that confronts the viewer with an experience that is both spatial and visceral. Structure, both architectonic and organic, decorative and chaotic; find themselves within my constructions, along with processes that are suggestive of addition, division and subtraction. By building or compiling with pattern I wish to reveal information of a new order, or perhaps expose the subtle possibility of an alternative cosmology.
