CRAFTS

This is a guide for finding materials on crafts in the Greenfield Library at the University of the Arts®. Crafts is a broad topic that includes the history, technique and exhibition of work in metal, fibers, wood and ceramics. Send any questions about this topic to the e-mail address at the end of this document.

GENERAL  |   METALS / STONES  |   FIBERS / TEXTILES  |   WOOD / FURNITURE  |   CERAMICS

Each main heading is followed by appropriate subject headings to search materials in this or other libraries. This is followed by a list of specialized dictionaries, encyclopedias or handbooks and, in some cases, books on the history of the craft.
REF before the call number indicates location in the Reference Section and library in-use only.

The following materials are mainly books. It is important also to search journals/magazines when looking for information on an artist. Not everyone has books written about them. Use a PERIODICAL INDEX to find articles on artists, exhibitions or current techniques.
