MUSIC REFERENCE SOURCES

The Music Library of the University of the Arts continues to build a rich collection of reference materials in support of the performing arts curricula and programs. Surrounding the Reading Room of the Music Library are selected critical score editions of canonical works, anthologies of jazz solo transcriptions, music dictionaries and encyclopedias, works catalogues, bibliographies, discographies, and technical guides. Though not a vast research collection, the reference shelves contain not only valued monuments of our cultural heritage but also recent publications, wide-ranging in their coverage of most aspects of music study--from pedagogy to style analysis, from manuscript facsimiles to musical instrument catalogues. Exploration of such resources as this can become one of the most enriching experiences during the process of undergraduate self-creation.
