Health Insurance at UArts
The University of the Arts requires that all students carry health insurance either through their own insurance company or through a plan offered by Academic HealthPlans and billed through UArts. Below, please find information detailing the affordable and comprehensive insurance available from Academic HealthPlans. This plan would provide health coverage whether at school or not during the period from August 15, 2008 through August 15, 2009 at a cost of $586.

As you consider the Academic HealthPlans insurance option or your own, please keep in mind that you must have at least $50,000 of coverage with a major medical plan.  Also, since costs of specialists, X-rays, laboratory work, ambulance service and emergency room visits are not covered by UArts Health Services or our partners at Jefferson Family Medicine Associates, it is essential that your health insurance policy cover these specific expenses.

In order to ensure health coverage for all students and expedite the process efficiently, the University implements its insurance coverage on an "opt out" basis. In other words, the University's Academic HealthPlans option will automatically be charged on your bill if you are registered for six or more credits hours and do not inform us on the enclosed form that you have other coverage. If you would prefer to maintain health insurance coverage on your own and not through Academic HealthPlans, you need simply to complete the "Mandatory Health Insurance Information" form (available below) and return it to the University's Health Services office no later than July 1, 2008 along with a photocopy of the back and front of your health insurance card (or other form of insurance verification as specified on the form). Regardless of whether or not you choose the University insurance, you are required to submit the "Mandatory Health Insurance Information" form to indicate which insurance option you are choosing.
