In the 2007-2008 school year, The University of the Arts implemented the Anytime-Anywhere Creativity Program, a new initiative designed to equip students to seamlessly learn, communicate and create, 24/7 throughout the UArts campus and beyond.
Through this program, participating students are provided with a complete computing package, including a new Macintosh notebook, a software package customized by major, and comprehensive campus computer support.
The educational benefits of the program include:
• A consistent, reliable classroom experience, incorporating the latest technology
• Increased on-line collaboration with other students, faculty and others.
• 24/7 access to the university's digital educational and creative resources
Most students buy a computer for college. At last survey, 89% of UArts students own computers. Yet, many make an investment in hardware and software on their own only to find it is not compatible with University systems or those owned by other students.
The Anytime-Anywhere Creativity Program is funded through a Participation Fee, with payments spread in even amounts over multiple years to cover the cost of the laptop and associated expenses; a separate annual technology fee covers technology infrastructure and application resources. By Fall 2010, all UArts students will be required to participate.
