Anywhere Creativity Program
for Participants entering Fall 2009

In the 2007-2008 school year, the University of the Arts implemented the Anytime-Anywhere Creativity Program, a new initiative designed to equip students to seamlessly learn, communicate and create, 24/7 throughout the UArts campus and beyond.

For the 2009-2010 Academic Year, we will enhance the AAC Program by introducing the UArts Apple Custom Store. Using the UArts Apple Custom Store, participating students will select and purchase their own MacBook Pro or MacBook laptop. Recommended Laptop Bundles range in price depending on the requirements of the student’s major, and all bundles include a UArts software package, external hard drive, neoprene sleeve and three-year Apple Care Extended Warranty.

Students will own Microsoft Office and the iLife suite. Access to all other institutionally owned software provided with the computer will be license-managed using the same system currently employed in all of our labs. Students will be able to purchase additional software and accessories as needed. Students are also provided comprehensive on-campus computer support through our Service Center. Students are strongly encouraged to purchase insurance for their laptops and other valuable digital devices. Students must provide insurance for their computers in order to receive access to a loaner laptop, through our Service Center.

The educational benefits of the program include:
• A consistent, reliable classroom experience, incorporating the latest technology
• Increased on-line collaboration with other students, faculty and others.
• 24/7 access to the university's digital educational and creative resources

Most students buy a computer for college. At last survey, 89 percent of University of th Arts students own computers. Yet, many make an investment in hardware and software on their own only to find it is not compatible with University systems or those owned by other students. By purchasing an appropriate Recommended System Bundle through the UArts Apple Custom Store, students are sure to be prepared with the technology necessary for their course of study.

A separate annual Technology Fee covers technology infrastructure and application resources. By Fall 2010, all University of the Arts students will be required to participate.
