Drip Drip Drop
It's been raining here in Philly for the last few days... it made carrying a giant stick 20 blocks and back quite the experience! No big deal, though. The "Puck's Broom" prop from A Midsummer Night's Dream is coming along very nicely. Getting it home, it only sustained a few cuts and bruises... I may have to glue a few more fairy gemstones onto the uppermost part of the handle. But, as broom abrasions go, those were not that big of a deal.
Finals week is a lot like "Hell Week" for Theatre, in my opinion... except, no big pay off at the end. You do all this work and then at the end of your very last class, you exit and just take a breath, going, "Should I...go home and play Skyrim?" Which is exactly what I plan on doing, next Wednesday since that's my very last class of the semester. Done after that, and looking forward to my LAST semester, next Spring!
"Bodies" was good enough not to schedule a shoot this week, so I don't have to go in until Sunday, and fortunately I've mapped my schedule for finishing work around that, already. YESSSSS!!! I love going to work for that. I love hearing Steve tell me that the makeup looks good, or that the character looks exactly like he pictured him/her. I cannot wait until I feel like I'm officially allowed to post pictures from production. :)
Makeup class on Monday was great since we've started DRAG!!! I haven't done anything as extreme as Maggie Baker wants us to do for that class. Even when I was dating Seth (Drag queen blast from the past) he wanted me to make him look more natural, not quite so over the top, so this is definitely an experience! My whole face looks too big... it makes me wish I had a real big wig to slap on my head when it's finished... oh wait, SHE DOES HAVE A REAL BIG WIG.... yes, she does. :D Jaimie has more wigs than a natural woman probably should. But, boo on the haters... gonna pull it off!
My Creating Reality TV class has officially ENDED! I'm happy to have one of the five behind me, I must say. That class was a picnic for finals compared to the others, though. Still, I estimate an A from her, so who's complaining? Not me! And the class was definitely interesting... not to mention, it got me right back into ANTM!! :D I missed that show. RuPaul's Drag Race, Season 4 starts in January, by the way! I already checked out the contestant's videos and most of them look promising! Sadly, the big girls all look pretty average- or even less so, and it made me sad that Miss Misty Maven wasn't selected to be a part of the action! (Petrilude, from youtube... look her up. She's amazing.)
Well. I just wanted to post today because the blog is FINALLY up and running! But I will most likely stick to my Saturday blogs, because it's just easier to remember the same day of the week. ANYWAY! That's all I have to say for now. Just wanted to test out the new system! I wish everyone luck on finals (again!) Buhbyyye!
Hullo-- I'm Jaimie and I have been blogging for UArts for the last four years. :) I'm a senior now, and while I enjoy screenwriting, I've taken a special interest in makeup as well! My hope is to me a Primary Makeup Artist on film sets or for a television network, and write my screenplays on the side to sell. I hope to go to Cosmetology school next year to get an official degree to help me secure a day job in that field. I also enjoy history, serial killers, folklore, and Drag Queens! :D
