Art Unleashed

So UArts hosts an event called "Art Unleashed" where they showcase selected student, faculty, and alumni's works of art and all pieces are avaliable to buy as well which in return can make a profit for the student and also raise money for scholarships. I think that Art Unleashed is an amazing event that makes students want to work hard and create the best quality work that they possibly can.

Easter Weekend!

Hope everyone had a happy Easter weekend filled with family, friends, fun and if you're anything like me lots of chocolate bunnies! This weekend was great I saw legally blonde at the Mariuam Theatre on Thursday with some friends which was amazing, it just had it's last showing on Easter so if you missed it then definitely check to see when the next show is that UArts is putting on! Then I went home for some turkey, stuffing and easter eggs and had a great time seeing my family all together.

New Inventions

For my Intro To Design class we were presented with the task to "hack our lives" in a DIY (Do It Yourself) Project. We were told to go about our daily lives and take pictures along the way to see our lives in snapshots and see what you can improve or see what you can make to improve your day to day routine. Then we had to go back through the pictures and pick certain aspects out that you can potentially "hack". I chose my desk. I have no time to organize every day really so my jewlery, remotes, and papers are all scattered in a big pile on my desk leaving me with little to no room to work.

Going red for marriage equality

Today's a big day in the supreme court and a big day in history. Today, March 26th 2013, at 8:30 AM supporters of marriage equality gathered outside of the supreme court on the first day of hearings to show that they believe all Americans deserve to be treated fairly and equally under the law no matter who they love. I personally think that this is a great event that will hopefully diminish the political battling against prop 8 and marriage equality. I believe that people should be able to love who they want no matter what gender, race, etc.

Projects on projects

As the semester draws closer to a close it seems as though all of these projects are getting a little overwhelming. Planning is key right now and that's exactly what I've done. I've recently been working on two projects for two different classes that I'm excited to finish and see the final product! For my Design Class I'm working on a "Do It Yourself Life Hack" project which is where you find something in your life or day to day basis that you do or need and alter it so that it can make your life easier.

Home Stretch

It's almost hard to believe that another semester is about to come to a close and therefore commencing Summer 2013! So much has happened throughout this school year and it's all happened so fast. Some highlights of this year for me personally have been transferring to UArts, making some amazing new friends and being exposed to all different types of art since I've come here. I've recently been able to visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art with some friends for an Art History paper which was quite the expierence.

New Vision Machine

The past couple of weeks I've been working on a project for my Design 101 class. The project was about making a "new vision machine", we were told to use a disposable camera and change the way we see the world. Some people in my class had some amazing ideas and changed the whole context of the project by going into the mechanical side of the camera and tampered with the flash and shutter etc. but I decided to make a different approach. I created filters for the camera for both the flash and the lens.

Late Valentine's Day Post

Well that time of the year has come and gone once again.

The day full of flowers, chocolates, hearts and those gross little sweetheart candies everyone buys but no one eats. Whether you're going on a romantic date or hanging out with all of your friends, Valentine's Day is a day filled with love not just for a significant other but for friends and family as well. I think knowning that you have people around you that love and accept you for who you are is one of the best feelings ever.

Found & Fabricated

So one of my favorite classes I'm taking this semester is my Object and Environment: Found and Fabricated class. We used found objects to 'fabricate' new ones. It's one of the most interested classes I've taken that makes me view objects in a different way. Our current project we're working on is using found objects to alter or skew the meaning of a different object.

First Dance Show!

This weekend there was a Senior Dance Show, my first one since I transferred here. I attended with some friends on Friday night and wow was I impressed! All of the numbers were amazing and I'm glad I finally got to see some of the many talented dancers here at UArts. The show was at the Drake Theatre and it was packed! The choreography and the dancers were absolutely amazing.
