Student works in the metals studio

Back to class

So I've started classes this week. This is my last semester, so I'm taking thesis. It's a little stressful, but in a good way. I have a lit of ideas and I think I'm ready to start making work. We have to write an 8 page thesis paper this semester so I'm gonna have to be writing a lot. I am really excited to see all of my ideas come together and make a show at the end of the year.

Finished Crits

I finally finished with the semester when my last crit ended on Thursday. I slept for about 12 hours when I got home and I really want to eat vegetables. I really need to clean my apartment and go to the grocery store, but I'm going home for the holiday on Sunday so what's the point? I guess I'll just lay on the couch for a few days and get my strength back. You wont hear from me until long after I've come out of hibernation and the hangovers from New Year's have long gone.

Happy Holidays

I haven't blogged in a while.

I used to like blogging, but then I took an arrow in the knee.

Crits & Birthdays

This week has been really crazy. Tuesday I had a crit for my light-box piece that I put in the President's office. I was nervous about the response that I would get because it was a day before our opening. If people had negative things to say there would be not time to change anything before the opening. Luckily, they liked it a lot. I got great feedback that will be really helpful while working on my future work.

And Now

So this week we installed our show in the Presidents office. The title of the show is "And Now" and Cory made a really great sign for us. It's a show specifically for the seniors of the Multidisciplinary department. Everybody's work looks great and works really well together. Even though we didn't plan it almost all of our work has a very similar color scheme. We all used shades of black, white and beige. I have three pieces in the show titled Liar, Wrong, and Who do you think you are?

Ballet & Snow

So last Friday I got to take a break from all my work for a little while. I went to go see a ballet with two of my friends. We got student tickets to Russian Suite and they were only $25. We went out to dinner before the show and ate Korean barbecue. When we got to the Academy of Music we had amazing seats--we half expected to be behind a big pole or something. We were at stage right on the first level. The show was great, and it was really nice to relax for a night.

Text text text

I've been working really hard in my classes trying to make as much work as possible. I know that thesis is coming quick and I'll want to have as much to choose from as possible. Since I've been working with text more and more, and I've never had much experience with typography, I have a lot of research into that area. I'm trying to find someone knowledgeable to consult with. I got to use the vinyl cutter that we have on the 13th floor and the result was really awesome.

Fixing up my studio

Since school started, things have been going pretty well. All of my teachers loaded us right up with work like summer never happened. This semester is going to be all about building a body of work in order to try and come up with a good concept for my thesis. They don't try and give is particular assignments anymore, they just give us due dates and say "Have something done so we can talk about it." I really like being able to work on my own stuff exclusively now, but it is really hard to have almost no starting point from the teacher.

Multidisciplinary '12
Rockaway, NJ

I'm a senior Multidisciplinary major here at Uarts and I focus mainly on Sculpture. I really enjoy working in the woodshop and metal shop, but most of my work is some combination of every material I can get my hands on. In my spare time I love watching movies with friends and playing video games. I like experimenting with cooking and using friends and family as guinea pigs.
