The Art of Translation: Oedipus the King

UArts is not your typical college by any means. We don't have a real "campus," per say. It's a city in which we own a few buildings. Things are really small, everyone complains when the have to write a 2-page essay, etc. etc.

However, since I've turned 21, things have started to feel strangely more legitimate. There's something about going out to a bar to "drink off" the school day that shoves "college" as a notion into this romantic little box. It's pretty cool. We're about to be on Sprang Break. Wish I was going to Cancun.

Spring Semester 2012

So, second semester is full underway. The first week of classes is always a nice and necessary "transition" phase. To go from couch-potatoing and the persistent smell of a nearby Douglas Fur back to the thankless grime and unpredictable weather of Philly is no easy task, but as students, we must make the shift.

I got back early from break, actually, to perform in "OBSESSION: The PostSecret New Play Festival," which, to make a long story short, was essentially a collection of brand-new, student-written plays based on those PostSecret cards. Pretty cool stuff.

We need a little Christmas now...

There are ten days between me and winter break. And a handful of finals, a slew of rehearsals, a few more callbacks, three shoots for The Pursuit [a web series], etc. The things I'm relying on to get me there: one buffalo chicken salad from Saladworks a week, the Christmas Village at Love Park, the slow but steady relief from, at the very least, classwork, lots of Christmas movies, my Yule Log, and the vision of eggnog dancin' in my head.

Anxious for break

Honestly, I can't wait for Thanksgiving break. School is fine, I guess, but tedious. We've never gotten a fall break--we likely never will--and I want one. However, instead of whining, I'll simply await. Thanksgiving is beautiful. I realized how much I’ve romanticized it in my head, and I anticipate a huge let down this year. We’re going to my aunt and uncle’s. There aren’t going to be a lot of people there. My uncle asked my mom to bring pineapple upside down cake. What? What the hell? Is this a luau?

UArts is a school of collaborators, and that statement rings truer than ever as my junior year starts. Things have picked up quickly here at the Brind School of Theater Arts. I assistant directed, assistant stage managed and dramaturged the school's production of In the Blood (which was featured in the Philly Fringe). From there, I immediately went into rehearsals as an actor in First Lady Suite. With both of those shows off of my calendar now, I am "pseudo-free" for the remainder of the semester.

Directing, Playwriting & Production '2013
Doylestown, PA

I like things like fire and avocados and being in parks and taking bike rides and finding cool old books in cool old bookstores and only ever thinking about reading them. I'm a Capricorn. Grilled cheese is my kryptonite. I want to work in Theater or Film and TV. I don't believe in wasting time. I like telling stories. My life is about THE PURSUIT [a web series] ( and Saladworks and Christmas.
