"Observations & Anomalies"
Thomas Porett
February 12 - March 7
Thomas Porett's "Anomaly" series brings common objects such as garlic scapes and ocean waves into lyrical combinations that refer to the original plants yet diverge into a dynamic interplay of lines and shapes. The series "Electronic Poem," which is derived from still images and composited into video with Porett-composed electronic music, will be on display in the front window of the gallery. Porett, professor of Electronic Media, was hired by Sol Mednick in 1966 and is a digital imaging pioneer, dating to 1980, when he first started exhibiting his digitally based work.
A reception celebrating Porett's work will be held in the Mednick Gallery on March 4, from 5 – 7 p.m.
