UArts Poetry Slam / Tuesday, November 18, 2014 / 6-9 pm  Register Now!

Since 2013, the UArts Poetry Slam has given young creative writers the opportunity to share their work with family, friends and peers, as well as compete for prizes including tuition scholarships to the Creative Writing program at UArts’ Pre-College Summer Institute. Judges at this event include faculty in the Creative Writing B.F.A. eager to identify and mentor first-rate talent.

The 2014 UArts Poetry Slam is on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 6-9 pm at the Arts Bank Theater, 601 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA. High school sophomores, juniors and seniors are invited to read original work, in any style (family-friendly language and subject matter, please), totaling a maximum of three minutes.

This year’s event will feature a maximum of 35 readers. Reading slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register now to secure your reading slot.

Creative Writing at the University of the Arts

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing is the first degree program offered through the university's Division of Liberal Arts. Students in this major focus on Fiction, Poetry, or Writing for Film & Television, and gain hands-on experience through Underground Poolthe university's literary magazine, and The American Poetry Reviewa nationally renowned poetry magazine housed right here at UArts. 

The Creative Writing program at UArts' Pre-College Summer Institute is an intensive four-week program that gives rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors the opportunity to study under UArts' acclaimed faculty while earning three college credits.
