Childhood
Babayeva grew up in Russia and spent eight years with the famed Bolshoi Ballet Academy. At  age 10, she found herself dancing on the venerable Bolshoi stage. “My time with the Bolshoi Ballet Academy was probably the most exciting time of my childhood,” said Babayeva. “Not many kids or professional ballet dancers have the opportunity to perform on stage of the Bolshoi Theatre.”

Artistic Turning Point
 “When my mom took me to see ballet Esmeralda, I decided to be a professional ballet dancer.”

Coming to the United States
“In 1995, I came [to the U.S.] as a visitor and in the same year got a contract to perform with the Ballet Arts in Minnesota.”

Other accomplishments
Babayeva co-founded the International Ballet Classique in 2003. “Dancing with the company allows me and those we accept to bring the fine art of classical ballet to a wide and diverse and audience.”
