Important Student Health Insurance Announcement
The University of the Arts requires that all students carry health insurance either through their own insurance company or a plan offered by Academic HealthPlans and billed through the University. Students who wish to waive the University-sponsored plan must provide proof of private health insurance coverage by completing an online waiver. The deadline to complete the health insurance waiver is July 15, 2009, for the fall semester, and January 1, 2010, for students who are entering the University in the spring. If the waiver is not completed, students are automatically enrolled in the University-sponsored student health insurance plan.
Information detailing the Academic HealthPlans insurance coverage is available online. This plan provides health coverage whether at school or not from August 15, 2009, through August 15, 2010, for $604.
As you consider the Academic HealthPlans insurance option or your own, please keep in mind that you must have at least $50,000 of coverage with a major medical plan. Also, since costs of specialists, X-rays, laboratory work, ambulance service and emergency room visits are not covered by the University’s Health Services or our partners at Jefferson Family Medicine Associates, it is essential that your health insurance policy cover these specific expenses. If you have questions regarding health insurance coverage, please feel free to contact Health Services at 215-717-6230.

Correction: Ordering Stationery
Business Cards: Business Card Request forms can be downloaded as an editable PDF under Staff Resources > Request a Business Card on the University's Web portal. After filling out the form, your supervisor must sign it before you forward it to Personnel Services for final approval. Business cards are ordered about once every two months depending on the number of requests.
Letterhead: Each department has the option to use either department-specific or generic University stationery. To order department-specific letterhead, contact Jim Maurer in Publications at 215-717-6412 and he will send you the available design options. Please reply with your choice, along with information for the letterhead such as the phone and fax numbers. If you choose generic University stationery, contact Distribution Services at 215-875-8012. You can order blank second sheets at the same time you place your letterhead order.
Envelopes: Most departments will be using generic envelopes, which can be ordered from Distribution Services. For departments that require department-specific envelopes, direct your request to Jim Maurer in Publications at 215-717-6412.

'Art in America' Reviews Eileen Neff's Show
MFA faculty member Eileen Neff's latest exhibition of new photography, "Things counter, original, spare," was recently reviewed in Art in America, which said, "Neff's precisely weighted technological sleights make us open our eyes wide, and prime them first to look and then to relish the time it takes to make sense of what we see."

Michael Grothusen: Life's Joys—Life's Disappointments
Foundation faculty member Michael Grothusen is a Philadelphia sculptor whose work is rooted in architecture, memory and experience. As part of the James A. Michener Art Museum Outdoor Sculpture Program, Grothusen will exhibit his large-scale sculpture "Life's Joys—Life's Disappointments." Influence for this work comes from looking at commemorative vessels of all types — sports trophies, urns, fountains and other forms of public monuments or memorials. Through changes in scale, material and patterning, this work goes beyond these initial references and asks questions about the similarity of the vessels and their relationship to our everyday lives.

What Can YOU Do? Video Contest
This is an opportunity for young—and young-at-heart—filmmakers to promote positive change by illustrating that at work, it's what people can do that matters. Any type of video can be submitted—serious, surprising, or even funny. Be creative! The point is to make people think and challenge their opinions about people with disabilities and employment. How you do this is up to you. The contest runs through July 15, 2009, and is sponsored by the Campaign for Disability Employment, a collaborative effort to promote the talent and skills that people with disabilities bring to America’s workforce and economy.
