The Hybrid Book Conference and Fair
Hundreds of book artists will converge at the University to explore their art and craft at the international conference and fair "The Hybrid Book – Intersection + Intermedia." The University's MFA Book Arts/Printmaking program hosts the event featuring panels with established and emerging artists, designers, educators and collectors; exhibitions of work by acclaimed artists Irma Boom, Gunnar Kaldewey and Hedi Kyle, and university alumni; and a book fair featuring over 100 artists selling a wide range of artists' books. June 4 – 6 Hamilton, Anderson and Gershman Halls.

15th Annual 'Food for Thought' MFA Summer Lecture Series
The University of the Arts' MFA Program in Ceramics, Painting and Sculpture announces the 15th Annual Summer Lecture Series featuring noted visiting artists and critics. This year's initial lecture will be held at 6pm on Friday, June 12. All others occur on Wednesday mornings from 9 - 10 a.m. All lectures are held in the CBS Auditorium, Hamilton Hall at 320 South Broad Street. The series runs from June 24 through July 29, 2009, and is free and open to the public. Crafts 2009 Graduates Show at Delaware CCA
Alternatives Museum Shop at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts will feature work by 2009 graduates of the University of the Arts Crafts department from June 5 through July 31, 2009. A select group of students were asked by faculty of the Crafts department to make work specifically for the featured artist show, On the Rise.

Alex Gartelmann, University alumnus, and staff members present his first solo show, curated by Jenny Kanzler (President's Office). It features a body of work spanning a wide spectrum of images through sculpture, photography and drawing built over the past year.

SEPTA Call for Artists: Deadline: July 1, 2009
SEPTA's Art in Transit program invites Philadelphia-area artists to submit qualifications for a permanent commission for the 63rd Street Station on the Market Frankford (Blue) Line. Interested artists should download the submission guidelines. The commission has a budget of $140,000.

Animation and Its Byproducts
Work from freshman through senior animators illuminating the process of defining and refining their craft. Models, sets, character designs, storyboards, sculptures and other work will be exhibited, allowing the viewer to understand and appreciate the resulting visuals seen on monitors in the exhibition space.

An exhibition of new works by Sarah B. Pohlman '06, in which she explores the intricacies of transparency and silhouette created by collaged light boxes portraying rare and beautiful moments of existence.
