Crafts Exhibition, Inspired by President Buffington
“Material Culture/Object as Portrait,” is an exhibition of work from the Crafts Department’s junior projects class, taught by professor Rod McCormick and Mi-Kyoung Lee and inspired by President Buffington. This project began with the class inviting President Buffington to share photographs of artifacts that he owns and lives with. He then gave a slide presentation to the class and shared his thoughts on the objects. Over the course of three weeks, the students made a collection of work in response to the presentation. The final exhibition includes a variety of artworks, both functional and non-functional, that reflect the values, ideas, attitudes and assumptions embodied in the President's possessions. Participating artists are Hannah Baker, Tara Bellofatto, Carolyn Biel, Astrid Bucio, Rachael Camacho, Bernadette Cladek, Ann Marie Dewitt, Lindsey Dickson, Annette Griffin, Shannon Henry, Carissa Hudson, Jisoo Lee, Betty Lertdarapong, Marion Loippo, Alexandra Lozier, Justin MacDonald, Matthew Malesky, Jack Nichols, Diana Palermo, Matthew Phillips, Erica Rega, Jacob Rissinger, Rebecca Schack, Alexandra Wisniewski and Sarah Wondrack.
