Jazz Headliners to Play at “Brownie Speaks”

PHILADELPHIA – Jazz aficionados, musicians and educators will gather at The University of the Arts (UArts) October 30-November 1 for “Brownie Speaks,” a symposium celebrating and documenting the life, music and legacy of Clifford Brown, the influential jazz trumpeter who died in 1956 when he was just 25. Performances by jazz greats Terence Blanchard, Benny Golson, Lou Donaldson and Marcus Belgrave and many others highlight the three-day event. The Philadelphia Music Project, a program of the Philadelphia Center for Arts and Heritage, funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts and administered by The University of the Arts, sponsors the symposium. Schedule is as follows:

Marcus Belgrave and Lars Halle Jazz Orchestra
October 30 @ 8 p.m.

The Terence Blanchard Quintet
October 31 @ 8 p.m.

Benny Golson Quartet and Lou Donaldson Quartet
