Rudman Regains Footing along Avenue of the Arts
print version
What: Fully refurbished and good as new,
Kal Rudman’s plaque on the Musical Walk of Fame on the Avenue of the Arts will be unveiled and re-dedicated. The plaque had fallen into disrepair and was jarred loose nearly two years ago. Since, the School of Music at The University of the Arts repaired and polished it to honor philanthropy of the Philadelphia radio icon.
Over the past 15 years, Rudman has donated more than $150,000 in scholarship to allow needy students to attend the UArts School of Music’s Summer Jazz Institute for high schoolers. Four of the students Rudman helped now attend the University and will be playing jazz tunes at the event. Newly inaugurated UArts president
Sean Buffington will lead the plaque unveiling.
When: Friday, May 2, 2008, 12:30 – 1:15 p.m.
Where: Southeast corner of South Broad and Locust sts. (at the Doubletree Hotel)
