ANNOUNCEMENTS
UArts Welcomes New Director of First Year Writing Program
UArts welcomes Dr. Lynn Sally as director of the First Year Writing program, beginning Fall 2016. Sally comes to UArts from Metropolitan College of New York, where she has been a faculty member since 2005. In 2014, she became an associate professor and director of Urban Studies and the Common Curriculum. Prior to Metropolitan, she was assistant director of the Writing Center at Cooper Union from 2003 to 2005. A graduate of the University of California-Berkeley, she holds an MA in Gender Studies and Feminist Theory from The New School for Social Research and a PhD in Performance Studies from New York University. She is the author of Fighting the Flames: The Spectacular Performance of Fire at Coney Island (Routledge, 2006). The First Year Writing program is an essential part of our students' education. A common part of every student's first-year experience, it is also the cornerstone of each student's education as a citizen artist. Sally's experience and interests promise a new enhancement of both the established First Year Writing program and of our general curriculum. Sally succeeds Christa DiMarco, who has done capable and distinguished service as director of First Year Writing since 2009. DiMarco continues as a full-time faculty member of the Liberal Arts Division.

The designs were printed on vinyl coverings and fitted to the boxes. The installation process on 18 new boxes began in May in coordination with the Washington Square West Civic Association.
