Students, faculty and alumni from the Ira Brind School of Theater Arts dominated the list of nominees for the 2015 Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre, presented annually by Theatre Philadelphia and recognizing the best of Philadelphia theater. Winners will be named at a ceremony on Nov. 2 at UArts' Merriam Theater.

Among the highlights are the Lifetime Achievement Award for retired faculty member Johnnie Hobbs Jr., and the multiple nominations for the Wilma Theater's production of "Rapture, Blister, Burn," which earned a nod for its director, Brind School Director Joanna Settle, as well as for alumna Campbell Meaghan O'Hare BFA '14 (Acting) for Best Supporting Actress. O'Hare earned a second nomination in that category for her work in Theatre Exile's "The Whale."

Alex Bechtel BFA '08 (Musical Theater) was nominated three times: for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for "Into the Woods" with Theatre Horizon, Outstanding Original Music for 1812 Productions' "To the Moon" and for the Otto Haas Award for an Emerging Philadelphia Theatre Artist.

In addition, the innovative company the Berserker Residents—two-thirds of which are UArts alumni: Justin Jain BFA '04 (Acting) and David Johnson BFA '03 (Acting)—is nominated for the June and Steve Wolfson Award for an Evolving Theatre Company.
