Submissions for 'Making It' Alumni Exhibit Now Being Accepted
The University of the Arts is pleased to invite submissions for "Making It: Alumni Works '04 - '14," a juried exhibition of works by recent alumni that will be on display October 8 – 31 in Hamilton Hall, with a reception scheduled for Friday, October 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. Submissions are open to all UArts alumni from the classes of 2004 through 2014, including undergraduate and graduate alumni. Only artwork created after graduation is eligible for submission. The deadline for submissions is August 15. Artists selected for the exhibition will be notified the week of September 15. Alums' Film Premiere Sells Out Nationwide
UArts alumni James Rolfe BFA '04 (Film) and Kevin Finn BFA '03 (Film) will premiere their film "Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie" on July 21 in Hollywood at the historic Grauman's Egyptian Theater to a sold-out crowd. The comedy, based on the popular web series of the same name, will also screen on August 2 at the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville, Pa., and is also sold out. Read more >>

Alumni Council Welcomes New Members
The Alumni Association welcomes Diane DiGiacomo BM '80 (Piano), Jeremy Lawrence BM '10 (Guitar), Michelle Nichols BFA '07 (Graphic Design), Charlotte Riggs MAT '03 (Visual Arts), Jason Sobin BM '97 (Guitar) and Davon Williams BFA '09 (Musical Theater) to the Alumni Council. These new members began their three-year terms on July 1, 2014. The mission of the Alumni Council is to represent the alumni base of the University of the Arts, evaluate and support Alumni Relations programming and communication efforts, offer input and guidance in outreach to all alumni, provide leadership, and serve as advocates for the University. Between Matter and Experience
This exhibition of contemporary painters includes alumnae Betsey Batchelor BFA '75 (Painting), Bonnie Levinthal BFA '81 (Printmaking) and Sarah McEneaney '75 (Painting). While the visual vocabularies are diverse, there exists a shared humanist perspective that suggests the way it feels to move through the world without feigned knowing or emotional distance, expressing an openness to sensation of both paint and subject. Housekeeping: Adriane Little
"Housekeeping" consists of a series of shadow boxes, image and text. For this project, Adriane Little meticulously cut 17 copies of the novel Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson into individual words. The text from the book was then placed in the empty space of the shadow box and in front of the image. More info >>
