Brind School Faculty Member Dr. Mari Fielder Passes Away
Longtime Ira Brind School of Theater Arts faculty member Dr. Mari Fielder passed away on June 18. She taught Theater History and Survey of Theater, required of all Theater students, for nearly two decades. A funeral service was held in Glenside, Pa., on Friday, June 27. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lymphatic Research Foundation, 40 Garvies Point Rd., Suite D, Glen Cove, NY, 11542, or to Kitty Cottage (Kitty Aid Fund), 317 Johnson Highway, Norristown, PA 19041. UArts Dancers Make Top 20 on 'So You Think You Can Dance'
Congratulations to School of Dance juniors Stanley Glover '16 (Dance) and Bridget Whitman '16 (Dance), who made it into the Top 20 on the June 25 episode of the Fox reality show "So You Think You Can Dance." The UArts dancers were chosen from among 157 contestants to advance to the competition's next round, which airs live on Wednesday, July 2. Read more >>

Art for ART: Heather Jo Wingate BFA '03, MA '08
Multimedia drawings by alumna and former staff member Heather Jo Wingate BFA '03 (Painting/Drawing), MA '08 (Art Education) are on display as part of her "Art for ART (Advanced Reproductive Technology)" series, which aims to raise awareness about infertility. The pieces are mixed-media, still-life objects, each one a symbol of the artist's personal struggle with the disease. More info >>

Between Matter and Experience
This exhibition represents the work of nine contemporary painters, including alumni Betsey Batchelor BFA '75 (Painting), Bonnie Levinthal BFA '81 (Printmaking) and Sarah McEneaney '75 (Painting). While the visual vocabularies are diverse, there exists a shared humanist perspective that suggests the way it feels to move through the world without feigned knowing or emotional distance, expressing an openness to sensation of both paint and subject. Housekeeping: Adriane Little
"Housekeeping" consists of a series of shadow boxes, image and text. For this project, Adriane Little meticulously cut 17 copies of the novel Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson into individual words. The text from the book was then placed in the empty space of the shadow box and in front of the image. More info >>
