ID Senior Named 2014 Student Employee of the Year
Brandon Klevence '14 (Industrial Design) and other work-study students honored at annual luncheon
The 2014 Student Employee of the Year Luncheon was held on April 14 for all work-study student nominees, work-study supervisors and invited guests. Students and guests socialized and were treated to a delicious lunch provided by 12th Street Catering.
After some brief introductions by President Sean Buffington and Alan Leffers, vice president for Enrollment, Retention & Student Affairs, the 2014 Student Employee of the Year award winner and runner-up were announced by Debi Leonard, the University's student employment coordinator. Brandon Klevence '14 (Industrial Design) was this year's award winner, nominated by his supervisor, Will McHale, Industrial Design shop supervisor. During the last three years, Klevence has served as a shop tech and shop supervisor's assistant. McHale spoke highly of Klevence's ability to inspire fellow students and student workers, saying that he brings professionalism and exceptional commitment to the job and has gone above and beyond in his work. Jonecia Lewis '14 (Vocal Performance), office assistant in Student Financial Services, was named the second-place winner.
Klevence received a $100 gift card, a commemorative clock trophy and a one-year membership to 12th Street Gym, one of the program's most committed sponsors. Lewis received a $50 gift card and a three-month membership at 12th Street Gym.
All nominees received certificates and prizes donated by sponsors from along the Avenue of the Arts. In addition to 12th Street Gym, this year's sponsors include the Kimmel Center, Blick Art Supply, Giorgio's on Pine, Sumo Sushi, the Philadelphia Theater Company, Bain's Deli, Starbucks Coffee, the University of the Arts School Store, the Last Drop Coffee Shop, Paolo's Pizza, and UArts' Student Affairs, Student Life, Technology & Information Services and Advising Center.
