Photos by faculty member and alumnus Jordan Baumgarten BFA '06 (Photography) were recently featured in articles in both Businessweek and American Express's OPEN Forum, an online community where business customers can exchange ideas.
One of Baumgarten's images (above) appeared in both the print and online versions of a Businessweek story about President Obama's proposed "Promise Zones" in West Philadelphia.
OPEN Forum ran a series of photos he shot for an article about Denny Moe's Superstar Barbershop based in Harlem, N.Y., titled "A Cut Above: How Black Barbershops Support Their Communities."
Baumgarten, who was recently named a Philadelphia "Artist on the Rise" by leading Spanish-language newspaper Al Dia, is currently a featured artist in the School of Art's "Faculty Exhibition: Part Two." He released his first book, a hardbound collection of images he took in his West Philadelphia neighborhood titled Briar Patch (Parts & Labor), last September.
