Four works by Directing, Playwriting & Production seniors in the Ira Brind School of Theater Arts will make their debut this February. “The Tryangle” and “Into the Clear Blue Sky” will run concurrently February 13 – 16 at Caplan Recital Hall, while performances of “Surviving the Dream” and “Purgatory” are set for February 20 – 23 at the Arts Bank Theater.
Directed by Molly Barron '14 (Directing, Playwriting & Production) and written by Robert Caso '14 (Directing, Playwriting & Production), “The Tryangle” presents three stories, covering three decades, where couples find themselves in and out of love, facing adversity and wading through uncertainty.
“Into the Clear Blue Sky” is directed by Rae Labadie '14 (Directing, Playwriting & Production) and features siblings Kale and Mika, who live in a post-apocalyptic New Jersey where the world has begun to melt out into the universe. This is a story of forgiveness, acceptance and perseverance of epic proportions.
Set in limbo during the critical seconds between life and death, “Surviving the Dream” by Joshua Campbell ’14 (Directing, Playwriting & Production) forces Mychal Bell to confront his past as a member of the Jena Six and decide his future through the help of a legendary civil rights leader.
“Purgatory” by Eddie Chase '14 (Directing, Playwriting & Production) is told in the format of three ghost stories, exploring the fears we develop when our worlds come crashing down around us and what happens when we don’t acknowledge the painful truths that lie before us.
